Mansion’s secrets – metal detecting in the historical surroundings of an 18th-century manor (3,5 hours)

A beautiful mansion on the Finnish coast offers an excellent historical setting for a metal-detecting safari.

Over the centuries, the mansion has been owned by many families, but the most interesting owner was a famous Finnish army partisan leader, captain Löfving. He fought Russian invaders using guerrilla tactics when the Russian Empire invaded Finland in 1713 and the Swedish army had to retreat. Löfving kept fighting with his men behind the enemy lines.

In 1717, Löfving met the king of Sweden, Charles XII, personally. Later, in 1736, the king granted him the mansion as a token of the kingdom’s gratitude for his bravery in the war against Russia. After his time in the military, Löfving kept farming the estate’s lands. He died at a very old age.

Did the old partisan hide any weapons or valuables after the war? What about the items he lost in the fields while farming?

The mansion’s lands offer search area, varying from fields and small forests to a water canal that leads to the Baltic Sea.

In order to respect the privacy of the owner, we disclose the name of the mansion only to those who will be participating in the safari.
